President Sandie, Tony, Robyn and Wendy, Robyn's Cousin, attended Leigh-on-Sea Lions Charter at Saxon Hall in Eastwood

4th - 6th April 2025 CW Convention at Stratford Upon Avon
Robyn and Rick attended CW Convention at Stratford Upon Avon to support Stu Young as DG.
They delivered some spectacles to MDHQ on the way.
It s also an opportunity to catch up with friends they had not seen for a while.
Friday was the formal night and Saturday was the business meeting, which was followed by the Lego / Superheroes fance dress night.
DG Stu had asked Robyn and Rick to make lego themed cupcakes for the pre dinner drinks on Saturday. These were Champagne, Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Lemon and White Chocolate! They went down very well and there was none left!
Rick and Robyn dressed up as Link (Legend of Zelda) and Princess Peach (Super Mario) from Nintendo franchises.
21st - 23rd March 2025 CE Convention at Peterborough Holiday Inn
President Sandie, Tony, Angela, Robyn and Rick attended CE Convention at Peterborough.
Friday night was a Cockney themed evening, and a lot of imagination was used in deciding how to dress!
Saturday was the business meeting. There was a video presentation of what our clubs had been doing this year, our club submitted photos of some of our events and they were included in the video!
Some of the photos were of Robyn and Rick picking and selling Tulips for Childrens Cancer research in Normandy, France - Delivering spectacles to Medico, Le Havre - Our summer fundraising stalls.
21st - 22nd February 2025 EU Privacy Protection Group in Frankfurt
Robyn flew out to Frankfurt to attended the EU Privacy Protection Group held at Wiesbaden which is the German Lions Head Quarters.
Two meetings were held discussing the privacy of European Lions data.
Robyn shared her Data Transfer Agreement with the group. This is still in draft format, but agreed by LCI at Oak Brook and just waiting for our Council to ratify it.
14th - 16th February 2025 SE Convention at Canterbury Cathedral Lodge
DG Steve Carley invited Robyn and Rick to join SE at their Convention at Canterbury Cathedral Lodge.
Robyn and Rick were happy to accept and were made to feel very welcome.
Friday 14th, Valentines Day, was a fancy dress evening with a theme of Lovers and 80's Disco!
On Saturday Robyn attended the Business meeting, while Rick went on a tour of Canterbury Cathedral, which was very interesting. Saturday night was the formal Gala Dinner
16/01/2025 Robyn CN GDPR Zoom workshop/training
Robyn gave a presentation on Data Protection and GDPR to the members of District CN. The invitation came from Liz Axten District GLT
Article On Lions Portal Access November 2024
Lions have been questioning security and who has access to individual Lions personal data, ie, name, address, phone number or email address and date of birth.
Robyn was asked to write an article on Lions Portal Access, which has been sent out via the DG's.
22nd November 2024 Eastwood Lions Quiz
We sent a team along to support Eastwood Lions at their Quiz night at the Eastwood Community Centre, also Robyn invited a team from Tesco where she used to work.
Our president Sandie, Tony, Moira, Richard and Robyn attended Eastwood Lions quiz night on the 22nd November, they came 8th (there were more than 8 teams!) but the Tesco team finished 2nd!
18th November 2024 SWANS quiz night
Our team at the Witham and Maldon SWANS quiz night at the RAFA club, Witham and came a very respectable 5th! And yes there were more than 5 teams entered!
We had a lovely sausage and chip supper whilst we attempted the interval round.
Welll done to the SWANS for raising a great amount for Children In Need!
17th November 2024 CW Autumn Forum
Lions Richard and Robyn attended 105 CW Autumn Forum at The Parkway Hotel & Spa, Cwmbran, Newport. They attended seminars in Risk assessment and DBS advice, Speed Learning, AI for Lions, Dream it do it, Having fun whilst tail twisting and Marketing ourselves and learning from failure.
The guest speaker was Rachel Crofts, a former reporter and newspaper editor. She spoke about different types of press releases and the best ways to capture the publics attention.
Richard also judged Lion Jan Watsons baking competition alongside the hotel's chef. It was the first ever CW Bake Off competition. Mark Whitfield from Balfall Common was the winner with a Coffee and Walnut cake, and £105 was raised for Lions Clubs Foundation.
Robyn also attended Cabinet.
Robyn and Rick also took some time out to visit Cardiff Castle and Christmas Market.
8th November 2024 manning a Poppy stall at Hadleigh Morrisons
Lions Richard and Robyn helped out by manning the morning session for the Royal British Leigion Poppy stall at Hadleigh Morrisons.
Later in the afternoon and evening Lions Sandie and Tony helped out by manning the stall.
Our final sessions this year.
In just over 2 weeks at Hadleigh Morrisons, Castle Point Lions, The Lions Club of East Anglia Lioness and Rotary, and any other helpers, raised £16,353.79 for The Royal British Leigion!
250 Club November 2024
Lions in MD105 have set a target of raising £1,000,000 towards Brain Tumour Research.
A 250 Club has been established to help reach this target.
Each ticket will cost £2.50 per month.
The monthly prize fund will be 40% of the monthly income from ticket sales.
There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize.
At our November 2024 Club Business meeting John raised the 250 Club and asked if we, as a club, could support it.
31st October 2024 manning a Poppy stall at Hadleigh Morrisons
On Halloween Lions Richard and Robyn helped out by manning the morning session for the Royal British Leigion Poppy stall at Hadleigh Morrisons.
In the afternoon Lions Sandie and Tony took over.
Lions Sandie and Tony also manned the stall on 29th and 30th October.
29th October 2024 Floods In Spain
In a matter of minutes, flash floods caused by heavy downpours in eastern Spain swept away almost everything in their path. With no time to react, people were trapped in vehicles, homes and businesses. Many died and thousands of livelihoods were shattered.
There was at least 231 deaths in the Valencia region, including a British couple have been found dead in their car.
It was Europe's deadliest floods since 2021, and could be Spain's worst ever as over a year's worth of rain fell.
On 5th November we donated £50 to LCIF for flooding disaster relief.
24th - 26th October 2024 Europa Forum, Bordeaux
Rick and Robyn attended Lions Europa Forum, Bordeaux, France from Thursday 24th October to Sunday 26th.
Robyn attended a Data Protection / GDPR pre meeting with her European counterparts on Zoom the week before, and the full meeting in Bordeaux.
Robyn has been working on an International Data Sharing agreement for some time now and has drafted a version that was submitted to the LCI legal team in Oak Brook.
A couple of questions were raised and Robyn was able to address these with Sue Ben, head of IT whilst at Europa Forum. A final version has now been submitted to LCI legal team.
Robyn continues to be part of the EU Privacy Protection Group, and they have asked her to help them draft new agreements for their own countries.
Robyn also helped out at a presentation on Coaching leadership by Ralph Watson from District CW.
Rick and Robyn attended an AI seminar by Daniel Marney Elkins where Rick learned how to generate a facebook post from Robyns Portal entries. The demonstration to the audience used our club as an example!
Daniel has trained an AI application to be GDPR complient and to create social media posts, press releases and articles, amongst many other things that target Lions, or potentioal Lions.

Robyn and Rick also had a chance to meet up with Lions friends and to explore Bordeaux before heading home.
15th September 2024 Rugby Heritage Lions Club is officially chartered as part of District 105CW
Robyn and Rick attended The Rugby Heritage Charter at The Railway Club in Rugby and were asked to make a cake with the new club logo on top!
DG Stu Young and The Mayor of Rugby Simon Ward. were guests, and we were privilidged to hear from the Ukrainian Choir - such beautiful voices.
President Ralph and Jan, Ian and his wife and PCC Richard and Jackie made us very welcome. The new club has Forty members and is growing.

23rd August 2024 Fete at Knightswood Day Care Centre
Our President Sandie, Tony and Moira were invited to the fete at Knightwood Day Care Centre.
Sandie and Moira of course baked some cakes to take along with a couple of our new retro games.
Sandie and Moira served tea and cakes, whilst Tony manned the games. Fortunately the weather brightened up and a great day was had by all.
Knightswood Day Care Centre is a safe haven for people who need some respite, care and friendship in their lives. It is based within the Dengie Hundred area.
12th August 2024 Zone Presentation on GDPR
Zone Chairman Brian Stanbridge asked Robyn to do a GDPR presentation at his Zone meeting.
Robyn went along for the whole meeting, and also answered questions.
Disabled Sports Day July 20th 2024
The Lions Club of East Anglia Lioness are happy to support this great annual Lions event - The Lions Disabled Sports Day in Thundersley Essex. It's a collaboration of clubs organising it but so many more from our District support on the day, with local Rotary getting involved too. Lions provide everything: venue, sports equipment, medals and even a packed lunch! It is a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
