Worry Worms

We have been busy creating “Worry Worms” to be provided to East Anglian Emergency Services crews.

What is a “Worry Worm”?  It is a curly piece of crochet or knitting with a face on top. Anyone who is anxious can hold and play with a worry worm and it has a calming effect. Our members mainly crochet them as they are quick and easy to produce  - the requests are large in numbers!

If you would like to have a go, the pattern is

Create 30 chain

4 x double treble into each chain.  As you work it should curl round!

When you get to the last one,  10 double trebles into this chain.  This should then form a circle for his head.

Join up and stitch in the ends.  Embroider two eyes on the head.

It doesn’t matter what wool or hook you use – thinner wool and small hook – a little worm!  A big hook with thick wool = a BIG worm!
